- Photo rejuvenation and removal of spider veins
- Treating rosacea, and red and brown pigmentation
The course provides extensive training with different types of modern lasers and I.P.L. (intense pulse light). Emphasis is continually maintained on laser safety and efficacy issues, avoiding complications, and patient selection procedures.
All workshop attendees will receive intensive, one-on-one supervision directly training on the laser, as well as a course manual, necessary forms, and standardized policies and procedures sample. A certificate of training for the operation of laser and IPL will be awarded to all completing participants.
Course requirements:
This class is open to registered nurses
and physicians. Nurses can receive continuing
education units (CEU).

Cosmetic Laser and IPL Course Overview
The two-day cosmetic laser course for nurses and physicians provides in-depth theoretical and hands-on training for medical professionals interested in entering the booming medical esthetic market. Each participant will acquire proficiency in performing cosmetic treatments using both lasers and intensive pulse light (IPL). The course further provides the knowledge necessary to develop skills in assessment, treatment, and client follow-up. Worksheets, practical demonstrations, and supervised practice enhance learning retention and follow the theoretical presentation.
Training Goals
By the end of the two-day workshop each attendee will understand client
selection criteria, as well as the risks and benefits of the following
laser and IPL treatments:
- Hair reduction using lasers
- Skin rejuvenation using IPL
- Laser facial or skin tightening
- Treating pigmented and vascular lesions

Introduction to laser physics. Compare and contrast cosmetic lasers to IPL. Laser biophysics and laser tissue interaction. |

Laser potency classification. Laser parameters: wavelengths, chromophore, pulse duration, repetition rate, spot size, energy setting and their effects upon results. |

Understanding the client and patient selection. Which clients will and will not benefit from the treatment? Using medical history forms, skin analysis, skin type, and other tools to perform a complete consultation. |

Patient care forms: Medical profile, consent forms, pre- and post-treatment forms, patient education handouts. Spot testing, scheduling, topical anesthetics, and what to expect. |

Student practice: pair up and complete all forms for consultation and consent. |

Students present findings, pro and con indications for laser and IPL treatment for their client. Discuss laser settings for safe treatment for hair reduction, skin rejuvenation, vein removal using the laser manufacture parameters. |

Hands-on practice: Each student starts the laser/IPL, sets parameters, uses the safety glasses, appropriate cooling gel, and performs the treatment as indicated. |

Scheduling a Laser & IPL Course
We've learned from experience that a truly successful cosmetic laser training course has to be hands-on. Because of that we will open a class with as few as two students and with a maximum of six. Many of our students come from all over the country and make a mini-vacation out of the laser training course by spending time in San Francisco or elsewhere in California!

Course Tuition
For the entire course, including all materials and hands-on training for two full days, the tuition is only $1,500. Group discounts may be available; please inquire in advance. All attendees who fulfill the course in a satisfactory manner will receive a completion certificate. Nurses may receive continuing education units (CEU).
